Language Proficiency Survey

This course will be most beneficial to participants with high-intermediate or advanced Spanish language skills. Participants registering for this course wish to take their Spanish language skills to a professional level for clinical applications.

On-Demand Webinars

This 8-week course builds participants' Spanish language skills following the clinical encounter structure. There are eight pre-recorded webinars. Participants can watch them at their own time. Webinars provide participants with important knowledge prior to the LIVE sessions.

  • Introduction, greetings, and audiology vocabulary

  • Patient's main complaint or concern

  • Clinical history (adults and pediatrics)

  • Mental health, cognition and screening tools

  • Hearing technology

  • Pediatric services

  • Counselling, recommendations and referrals

  • Knowing your language limitations

Live Sessions

In these weekly practical sessions, participants will be able to apply new knowledge and skills learned on pre-recorded webinars. Participants will conduct clinical history, apply standardized tools such as questionnaires, provide test instructions, review results, as well as discuss recommendations, any additional testing or referrals.

Course Final Assessment & Individualized Feedback

  • Tele-Health Appointment

    Participant will lead a telehealth appointment with Spanish speaking patient.

  • Patient & Instructor Review

    Patient and the instructor will review participant's fluency and oral proficiency during the telehealth appointment using a review format.

  • Written Clinical Notes

    Participant will write clinical notes in English using all the information gathered in Spanish during the tele-health appointment.

Cancellation Policy

  • Participants who registered for the course only: Cancellations received 30 days prior to the start of the course will receive 100% refund. Cancellations received up to one week prior to the start of the course will receive 75% refund. There will be no refunds for cancellations received within the 6 days prior to the start of the course.  
  • Participants who registered for the course & textbook package:    Textbooks are non-refundable, and their full price ($126.94) will be deducted from the registration cost. Cancellations received 30 days prior to the start of the course will receive 100% refund. Cancellations received up to one week prior to the start of the course will receive 75% refund. There will be no refunds for cancellations received within the 6 days prior to the start of the course.
