Participants

This course series walks participants through the clinical encounter, all in Spanish! It covers basic greetings and introductions, clinical history, tests instructions, reviewing results and recommendations, hearing technology and more! We have two webinars focusing on pediatrics as well as tinnitus, mental health and cognition. Before registering please check the following:

  • Language proficiency: To benefit the most from this course series, participants should score FAIR or higher in the Adapted ILR scale.

  • CEUs: To receive CEUs, you must sign up for the course series (7 on-demand webinars) and you must be a member of Audiology Online.

  • Dates: To kick off this course series, we will be hosting the first webinar live on January 22nd 2026 at 1 PM EST. All seven webinars will become available on January 23rd and you can complete them at your own pace.

Medical Spanish for Audiologists - Course Series

Curriculum at a glance! Seven courses, 0.7 CEUs!

  • Course 1: Basic audiology vocabulary, as well as test instructions for a comprehensive hearing assessment test battery in Spanish.

  • Course 2: Eliciting the chief complaint and completing past and present case history in Spanish.

  • Course 3: Sharing test results and discussing recommendations in Spanish.

  • Course 4: Discussing hearing technology, including hearing aids and cochlear implants in Spanish.

Language proficiency

To benefit the most from our courses, participants must have some proficiency in Spanish. Our courses do not teach Spanish, instead they focus on medical Spanish in audiology spaces. To help participants gauge their level of proficiency in Spanish, we recommend that they take the Adapted ILR Scale for Physicians (Diamond et al., 2014). Participants should score FAIR or higher in this scale.

This On-Demand course series is intended to help participants expand their Spanish language skills related to audiology services. Participants will be assessed on the learning objectives at the end of each webinar through an assignment or through a quiz. The Medical Spanish for Audiologists course series presented on "On-Demand" format DO NOT test, assess, or certify the participants’ proficiency in Spanish.
